What is Heritage School of Ministry?

Heritage School of Ministry (HSM) is facilitated by Heritage Church NW in Vancouver, WA. The purpose of HSM is to fulfill the mandate found in Ephesians 4:12 to equip Jesus' disciples to edify and build the church. Our desire is to help students identify ways they can uniquely serve the body of Christ, form a foundation to pursue meaningful ministry, and become certified and licensed with the Assemblies of God Network.

Prepare for Licensure

The HSM curriculum and accountability will be changing. Starting October 5, 2025 HSM will begin integrating Global University’s Berean courses. This will equip and allow opportunity for HSM students to apply for Licensure with the General Council of the Assemblies of God USA. Link to 2025 Berean Course Catalog

What should I expect when attending HSM?

  • HSM classes run seven weeks at a time. During each seven week session, we will study through 2-3 textbooks. There will be three sessions offered throughout the year.

  • Classes are Sundays at 6 PM at Heritage Church. Remote enrollment is offered.

  • HSM has integrated Global University’s Berean courses. Students will have access to online material including digital textbooks, supplemental resources, and exams. 

  • All materials needed for each session are included in the cost of tuition.

  • HSM offers the option to pursue two track options:

  • The Licensure Track is for those who are especially interested in gaining the ministry skills needed to launch new ministries and even plant churches. This track equips students for the opportunity to become licensed with the Assemblies of God Network. 

  • The Enrichment Track  is a great opportunity for those wanting to gather knowledge and skill to enhance your ability to edify and build up the body of Christ. Exams and other objectives are not required. 

  • You do not have to decide which path you are pursuing prior to attending the first class of the session. Certification vs. Enrichment will be covered further during orientation the first week.

  • Enrollment includes access to assigned Heritage Church Conferences ​while attending HSM.​

What if I’m not starting from the beginning or need to take a break? 

Heritage School of Ministry is designed for students to step in and out of the order of sessions as needed. For example, it may be common for students to start at Session 2, rejoin for Session 4 and step out again during Session 6. If a student misses a session they can wait for that session to cycle back through.

Current Course Focus

  • BIB 114 Christ in the Synoptic Gospels 

    •  An introductory study of our Lord’s life and times according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It examines the historical setting, His life between the Annunciation and the Ascension, and His message and method, including His parables and miracles. Organized around three themes—(1) the world, (2) the Man, and (3) the message—this introduction helps to fuse our understanding of His life and work with our commitment to live by the values He taught and demonstrated.
       

  • MIN 281 Conflict Management for Church Leaders 

    • A biblical approach to conflict resolution. This course offers a scriptural way to deal with the inevitable occasions when conflict arises, particularly in a church setting. It offers practical principles for resolving the conflict in a manner that is pleasing to God.

Remote Learning

  • While in-person engagement is encouraged, there are some individuals that remote-learning is the only way for them to participate. You are most welcome! Here are a few points for remote students:

    • You will have access to LIVE and recorded class sessions as well as digital handouts. Any additional books included in the session, remote students are welcome to purchase separately.

How much does it cost to enroll and how do I pay?

  • Each seven week session costs $400.

    • HSM values discipleship, formation, and participation. To facilitate this we endeavor to make the cost of enrollment accessible to everyone.

    • At the time of enrollment you will pay a $50 non-refundable deposit.

    • Payment in full by the 7th week of the session.​

  • Your enrollment covers all materials needed for the session: Application fee with Global University and digital courses/textbooks.Tuition includes more than 14 hours of class time enrichment, and depending on the session may include additional books provided by Dr. Dav, hardcopy handouts with binder, and admission to any assigned Heritage Church conferences or workshops.

  • When you register for HSM, you become a partner with a colleague on the other side of the planet - we are duplicating our school of ministry in Ghana!
